Tourism is a personalized service industry and is transterritorial and global in nature. The norms of classification of hotels, resorts and restaurants, the most important segment of Tourism Industry, are fixed in keeping with the international norms. HRD standards in Tourism Industry are to be adhered to very strictly. This industry needs professionally qualified and trained personnel at all levels. To cater to the needs West Bengal offers two Government Institutes :-

Admission procedure for 3-Year Diploma

An All India Entrance Examination is held for admission to 3-Year Diploma Course in Hotel Management. Regarding this an advertisement is published in the month of December/January in all leading dailies.

According to the format given in the advertisement are required to filled up properly and send it to National Council, New Delhi along with Demand Draft of requisite amount.

All India Entrance Examination is generally held in the month of April.

Candidates qualified in the Written test will be called for an interview tentatively held in the month of June. The session starts from August.

Criteria :

Qualification : Minimum 10+2 standard examination pass. Those who appear 10+2 examination in the same year are also eligible to appear the Entrance Examination, but if selected their admission will be treated as PROVISIONAL.

Candidates having COMPARTMENTAL on any subject are not ELIGIBLE.

Age : Maximum 22 years as on 1st July, 3 years relaxed for SC/ST.

Admission Procedure for Trade Courses

Criteria

P.G.D. Graduate on any stream.
Age : Maximum 28 years as on 1st July. 3 years relaxed for SC/ST.
C.F.S. 10th standard Pass of 10+2 or equivalent exam. With English.
Age : Maximum 22 years as on 1st July. 3 years relaxed for SC/ST.
C.F.P. 10th standard Pass of 10+2 or equivalent exam. With English.
Age : Maximum 22 years as on 1st July. 3 years relaxed for SC/ST.

An advertisement is published tentatively in the month of May/June for admission in various Short Courses. The forms are issued from the Institutes. The candidates are selected on the basis of personal interview and written exam. On ENGLISH.

Eligibility Graduate in any discipline, sponsorship is desirable.

The Course & the Institute The Institute conducts the programme as a chapter of Indian Institute of Tourism & Travel Management, Gwalior, under the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India.
Hostel Hotel is available, to both men & women students.
Course Structure The Course consists of 2 semesters of 6 months
each and each semester will have 4 months of 4 modules and 2 months for project work followed by an end-term examination.
