ENJOY THE THRILLING
EXPERIENCE IN TIDAL WATER ORGANISED BY SEA EXPLORERS INSTITUTE
Sea Explorers Institute
of Kolkata has introduced a training course in TIDAL WATER at the river Hooghly to develop
necessary skill and to popularize this particular form of sports with adventure. The
Institute has a long experience in this field. For the first time in the country the
trained boys of the Institute conducted a unique Kayaking expedition covering a distance
2500 Km as a part of its round the country expedition named as "MAITREE
YATRA". It was a journey from Delhi to Kolkata through river Jamuna & Ganga
during the rainy season of 1988. In 1993, again another successful Kayaking expedition was
conducted covering a distance of 320 Km on the down stream of river Hooghly from Kolkata
to Jammu Island. The particulars of the Training programme are as follows :-
Who can join the Course ?
All within the age group of 15 to 40
years, with swimming background.
How Long is the Course ?
Total period 4 weeks but of 2 hours
duration of 4 days in a week.
Where will be the Training ?
In the following water of river
Hooghly under the guidance of experienced personnels with utmost care and safety.
What are the Future Scopes ?
- After the successful completion of the course, you are
provided with the facility of developing your individual skill and endurance at the
Institute on payment of a token fees.
- Competent students can take part in Kayaking championship
conducted by the Institute.
- You can take part in Institutes long distance
Kayaking adventure programmes.
Other Potentials
- In the coming days this will be a very popular sports as
the Government is giving a lot of incentives to promote Adventure Tourism.
- The basic equipment required are available locally at
moderate costs.
- There is a vast scope of Adventure/Adventure Tourism in
the riverine system of River Hooghly and its estuary zone.
